Green living beauty products are items you can find at a health store or in your own kitchen. Your skin is far better off using these botanicals, herbs and minerals because there are no harsh abrasives or chemicals used. You can make any type of cleanser, exfoliate or moisturizer that you need with a few ingredients. Best of all, you will spend far less using ingredients from home than buying expensive products at big box stores or online. Mix only what you need; there are no leftovers to store or go bad.

Make a simple moisturizing mask using honey and avocado. A 50/50 mix is best. Blend the ingredients in a blender until smooth. Wash with your regular cleanser and apply the mask. After 20 minutes, rinse off and feel how smooth and refreshed your skin is. You will need far less of your regular moisturizer.

Instead of buying expensive exfoliating soaps, make your own by grating your favorite beauty bar into a bowl using a fine grater. Mix in just enough water to make a paste and add regular oatmeal that you have processed in a coffee grinder or blender. Mix thoroughly and use to scrub your entire body to remove dead skin cells.

Although eco-friendly health and grooming products frequently cost more than their traditionally produced counterparts, prices are beginning to come down as they become more popular among consumers. In the past, green beauty products such as shampoo, conditioners, skin care products and makeup frequently cost the consumer more at the checkout counter because those products were not produced in volume. Manufacturers had no choice but to charge more for them if they were going to make any sort of profit whatsoever. Now that large numbers of consumers are beginning to demand green personal grooming products, however, they can be produced in larger numbers.

Consumers are advised to read labels carefully to ensure that the products they are purchasing are truly green. Manufacturers frequently make claims that are not quite the truth, and packaging can sometimes mislead naive consumers into believing that they are purchasing eco-friendly products when they really are not.

You like to think you live a pretty green life. You get your electricity through Direct Energy Houston or anywhere else where you know you can get green energy, you drive a hybrid, you purchase biodegradable products and you make an effort to minimize your driving, but what about your beauty products? Are you as environmentally conscious when it comes to what shampoo or lip liner to use? Do you make it a point to stay away from the products that are tested on animals and focus on the natural, organic products? The fact is that while there are many different green beauty products on the market there are dozens, perhaps, in your own home and we’re here to talk about a few of them.

Baking Soda
Mix in just a little baking soda with your soap or face wash, and your skin will feel both smooth and healthy.

Vinegar
Just a bit of vinegar during a good rinse will leave it with that healthy shine.

Witch Hazel
Witch hazel has all the natural enzymes necessary to enter your pours and really clear things up.

These are just a few green beauty tips. So remember, the next time you think about seeing what’s on the market in terms of beauty products, you might consider taking a look online and in the kitchen cupboard.

We all want to help our environment in any way we can. A large way in which women can help is by choosing “green” beauty products. There are so many different products out there, how do we know which ones are the best for the environment? I will give you a few pointers on this subject.
My first tip is to make whatever beauty products you can at home, using all-natural ingredients from your kitchen. This not only helps the environment, but also can save you lots of money. Some of the easiest beauty products to make at home are sugar or salt face and body scrubs, and facial masks made of oatmeal, honey, or yogurt. You can also make easy hair conditioners that will leave your hair sleek, shiny and beautiful. Specialized recipes for your specific skin and hair types can be found all over the Internet.
For those who simply don’t have the time or desire to make their own products, there are many products you can purchase which leave a smaller footprint on the earth than others. Always look for products labeled “certified-organic.” Also look for the Eco-Cert label, and the USDA Organic seal. These products are sure to make you happy as well as the environment!

So many people over the past thirty years have taken a step or two toward green living. For some it is a way to do their part and for others a way to be healthier. It is easy to see why recycling an aluminum can or plastic shopping bag can help the environment. Though many do not realize the impact something like facial cleanser or lipstick could have on the earth. Many mainstream beauty products have been scrutinized lately over having controversial ingredients or uneconomical packaging. Many ingredients are not that great for us let alone the earth. It is easy to not notice these things or to be unaware. Out of sight, out of mind after all. In our busy lives we don’t stop to think about what chemicals are in the things we wash down the drain. It goes from our homes into sewers, into bodies of water, into landfills. It affects our planet, the trees and our oceans. The wildlife such as fish, integral insects and more. In short, choosing green beauty products can not only save room in our landfills and keep your body healthier but it will give us peace of mind and a healthier planet.

Beginning with the containers in which the makeup is kept, it is far better to use glass than plastic. It takes a lot more energy to produce plastic than glass. Avoiding synthetic makeup brushes will also be better for the skin and eyelashes. Animal hair brushes will last much longer and can be washed on a weekly basis to reduce any risk of bacteria infection. Containers too can be produced so that they just need to be refilled rather than replaced.
The benefits of using green living makeup help provide your skin with non-allergy producing ingredients. The ingredients in green living makeup should be derived from plant and animal extracts and not petroleum products. Harmful ingredients that are non-organic include:
Mercury
Dioxane
Nitrosamines
DEA
Cyclomethicone
Ammonium Laureth Sulfate
Polyethylene Glycol
These chemicals are easily absorbed into the skin but the toxins gather in the intestine and proliferate throughout the body.
There are synthetic and natural versions of ingredients so it is helpful to differentiate which ones are in the products you are considering buying. Some of the basic ingredients needed in makeup are:
Emollients
Humectants
Emulsifiers
Surfactants
Preservatives
